Somatic Therapy
I offer somatic therapy, which involves connecting the body with the mind, as one of my integrative approaches to help clients reconnect with their bodies and emotions, and allow for a deeper understanding and healing of emotional and physical experiences. I earned an advanced certificate in the mind body connection from the University of Rochester, and this type of therapy can be particularly helpful for those who have experienced trauma, struggle with anxiety or depression, or have difficulty expressing emotions. We will work together to explore the sensations and feelings in your body, and use that awareness to access deeper emotions and memories. Through gentle, non-judgmental exploration and inquiry, we can identify patterns in your body's response to certain thoughts, emotions, or situations. By bringing awareness to these patterns, we can work to release any physical tension or emotional blockages that may be preventing you from experiencing emotional healing and growth. Somatic therapy also helps to build a sense of safety and empowerment, as clients learn to recognize and trust their own physical and emotional experiences. Somatic therapy can be used in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy, or psychodynamic therapy, to provide a more holistic approach to healing. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or just feeling disconnected from your body and emotions, somatic therapy can help you feel more grounded, connected, and present in your own life.
