About Maureen Sharp, M.A., LMHC
-
I am a PhD candidate and New York licensed mental health counselor with a master’s degree in counseling, currently pursuing a PhD in counseling education and supervision. Additionally, I hold an advanced certificate in mind/body approaches to healing. My research predominantly explores gender and sexual diversity which informs my work.
-
My practice specializes in working with teens, college students, and adults, with a particular focus on serving the queer community. I integrate mind-body approaches into therapy to promote holistic healing and well-being, helping clients navigate issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, aspects of identity, mind/body concerns, and relationship/life challenges.
-
My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone has the innate capacity for growth and healing. I emphasize emotions as a core component of our work, helping clients understand and process their emotions as a pathway to change. My goal is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings deeply. Collaboratively we work towards achieving your personal goals and enhancing your overall well-being through emotional insight and empowerment.
-
My passion for understanding the human mind and helping others inspired my journey into therapy, alongside my own personal journey of self-discovery. Outside of my practice, I find joy in walking in nature, reading, cooking, exploring new cities, and making coffee, espresso-based drinks, and latte art. I also share my home with two bunnies, Bleu and Ollie, adopted from local shelters. These interests keep me grounded and inspired in my work. I look forward to the possibility of working together to support your journey towards growth and healing!
